Blindarte presents the new Modern and Contemporary Art auction, number 111, with a catalogue of great quality and variety: a collection of artworks selected from well-known Italian and international collections of great artists of the twentieth century and of equally influential contemporary authors: from Sironi to Christo, from Filippo De Pisis to Nicola De Maria, from Afro to Kabakov, from Salvo to Vasarely, from Guttuso to Jan Fabre. These are some of the prestigious names of the artists in the catalog that, as usual, with different licenses, follows a temporal order and embraces from painting to drawing, from sculpture to photography, installations, offering lots of extraordinary interest and variety from the early twentieth century to the present day. An intense journey into some of the artistic movements that best represented us, offering on the contemporary market valuable opportunities for economic and cultural investment.
Among the artworks to be noted of this auction round: a rare painting by Salvo, among the first executed in 1979 according to his unmistakable style that has passionate collectors around the world and with ever-increasing quotations. The painting depicts a successful snowy landscape with 3 trees and 2 bright street lamps. The painting of the 32-year-old Salvo is presented at auction with an estimated €40,000/60,000.
Well represented is the Transavanguardia, artistic movement theorized since the mid-70s by Achille Bonito Oliva in great revival, with some of the most important works in the catalog: monumental is the painting honorific and lyric at the same time by Nicola De Maria entitled Nell’occhio del bambino. Made in 1981 and exhibited in several prestigious exhibition spaces, the artwork looks like a large fresco on canvas and, as you can guess from the title, it perfectly tells the poetics of the artist and the fairy-tale universe to which he is inspired. The beautiful painting is presented at auction with an estimate of €170,000/230,000.
Also from the 1980s, more precisely from 1984, is the great painting by Mimmo Paladino. Undisputed master of the Transavanguardia, with unmistakable and now famous traits, Paladino has an increasingly solid and internationally rooted market. His impressive and intense painting is offered at auction with an estimated 70,000/100,000 euros.
Also noteworthy is the work of Christo, Over the river, Project for Arkansas River, State of Colorado 2006 (estimated at 60,000/80,000 euros), the successful work of Land Art designed and studied in detail, but never realized by the great master of packaging.
In 1977, Atome, the canvas painting by Victor Vasarely, father of Op (Optical) Art, became one of the most interesting artistic and aesthetic movements that still inspires many artists and designers in the 1970s. The artwork, which will be included in the next catalogue raisonné by Pierre Vasarely, is estimated at 60,000/80,000 euros.
Among the great artists of Nouveau Réalisme, besides Arman (of which there are 3 beautiful works in the catalogue), it is necessary to mention the colorful compression of metals (cans) by César from Jean Ferrero and estimated 14,000/18,000 euros.
