AUCTION 110 | IMPORTANT ART OBJECTS, OLD PAINTINGS AND 19-20 CENTURY PAINTINGS - Press

Wednesday, May 29, starting at 15.30 at the Neapolitan headquarters of Blindarte - in connection with the headquarters in Milan - will be held the auction n.110 of Objects of Art, Ancient Paintings and Paintings of the XIX century.

The catalogue opens with a small section dedicated to the '20s, among which there is a valuable plaster sculpture by Paolo Trobetzkoy depicting Angelina Troubetzkoy con il lupo Vaska (Estimate € 5,000/ 7,000),  an elegant and rare Art Nouveau painted majolica Cachepot (Estimate € 2,500 / 3,000) and two refined sideboard, both attributed to the Sicilian architect Ernesto Basile (Estimate € 800 / 1,000) and (Estimate 1,000/1,200); then follows the part dedicated to the art objects, including a group of important majolicas - of different manufactures and eras - and important Neapolitan porcelain of Ferdinand manufacture; among these stands out the rare and refined tableware of the famous Servizio dell’Oca  (Estimate € 10,000 / 12,000).

In the section dedicated to the Important Ancient Paintings, are proposed artworks from prestigious and impeccable collections: among the most relevant, an extraordinary David and Goliath by Andrea Vaccaro (Estimate € 40,000 / 50,000), an artwork of museum quality, repeatedly published and exhibited, considered, with its powerful intensity, a valuable document of the painter’s ancient activity in Naples: rightly in the great Neapolitan exhibition dedicated to Battistello Caracciolo, the painting was included in the section dedicated to Caravaggio’s works; followed by a splendid canvas by Luca Giordano (Stima 60.000 / 80.000) depicting the Discovery of Moses published as an autograph work in the catalogue raisonné of the painter.   


Also enriching the catalog, the pair of oils on canvas by Abraham Brueghel (Estimate € 40,000 / 60,000), depicting monumental fruit triumphs with classic elements, also accompanied by prestigious bibliography; a rare and evocative pair of views of Carlo Bonavia that resume the beaches of Marechiaro and Gaiola at dawn and sunset (Estimated € 40,000 / 50,000) and a refined and precious still life of Luca Forte (Estimated € 25,000 / 30,000). An intense portrait of San Giacomo Maggiore by Pietro Novelli, known as il Monrealese (Estimate € 16,000 / 20,000), for which a well-founded attribution to Jusepe de Ribera has been repeatedly advanced. Very interesting paintings, both signed, by Lorenzo De Caro and Carlo Coppola and the beautiful model of an altarpiece by Francesco De Mura.

At the end of the catalogue, a varied collection of 19th century paintings and gouaches from historic Neapolitan collections, including the very detailed View of Vesuvius from Resina (Ercolano) by a foreign landscape painter (Estimate € 6,000 / 7,000), its discovery will certainly arouse the curiosity of scholars and collectors. Finally, works by the most representative painters of the nineteenth century, such as Giovanni Giordano Lanza, Camillo De Vito, Vincenzo Irolli and Salvatore Petruolo.
