On Wednesday 31 May, starting from 4 pm, auction no. will be held at the Neapolitan headquarters of Blindarte. 106 of Furnishings, Old Master and 19th Century Paintings. In the first part, the catalog offers a selection of valuable furnishings and art objects, coming from an ancient Neapolitan noble residence. Among these we note a nativity scene group of 18th century Sicilian manufacture, finely sculpted within a tortoiseshell case (Estimate €4,000 / 6,000), a beautiful desk inkwell, from the Royal Ferdinand factory of the late 18th century, decorated with views of Vesuvius in eruption (Estimate €1,200 /1,800), and a rare fan with the depiction of Carolina and Gioacchino Murat (Estimate €1,500 /2,000). For the particularly interesting furnishings, in addition to an important pair of demilune consoles, Napoli Louis XVI (Estimate €10,000/12,000), a particular pair of 19th century Sicilian consoles belonging to a Borgia residence (Estimate €6,000/ 8,000), with an unusual frill workmanship. The section concludes with an important Poulard Prad dinner service (Estimate €3,000/4,000) commissioned by Carolina Murat during her stay in Naples from 1808 to 1814.
In the section dedicated to ancient paintings, we highlight five important works belonging to the well-known Neapolitan collection of Biagio De Giovanni, among these the intense virile portrait of Salvator Rosa (Estimate €25,000 / 30,000) published and exhibited in the important Capodimonte exhibition of 2008 dedicated to the painter. Following this, the monumental painting by Abraham Louis Rudolph Ducros depicting Nisida da Posillipo (Estimate €100,000/120,000) will not fail to arouse the interest of collectors of Neapolitan views, notified and accompanied by numerous publications and exhibitions in which he took part. The section is enriched by the splendid canvas depicting a very sensual Bathsheba bathing by Paolo De Matteis (Estimate €50,000 / 70,000), which, included in an important publication, is considered one of his masterpieces and an elegant still life en plain air by Abraham Brueghel (Estimate €50,000 / 70,000), signed.
In the second part dedicated to 19th century paintings, a particular female portrait by Giuseppe De Nittis is proposed (Estimate €12,000 / 18,000), which will be included in the catalog being prepared by the Foundation and the refined canvas of the Antwerp Cathedral attributed to David Roberts (Estimate € 10,000 / 15,000) to conclude the round a rich collection from Vomero, among the various lots offered stands out a beautiful large-format Ischia pine forest, signed by Giuseppe Casciaro, (Estimate € 3,000 / 4,000) and a Portrait of a woman by Antonio Mancini (Estimate €9,000 / 10,000) inherited from the prestigious Alisio collection.
