Many are of great interest and with a relevant history, concerning artists whose works are particularly sought after in the current auction market.
Certainly the very elegant watercolor by Giorgio Morandi, executed in his beloved Levico in 1957, is among these. The work, which reproduces with exceptional charm the typical chimney of these landscapes, is estimated at 60,000/80,000 euros.
Of great interest is the enigmatic work on canvas by Vincenzo Angetti, Oltre il lingua, Semiosi from 1969, estimated at 18,000/25,000 euros. It is perhaps one of the works that best reveals the research on language and its overcoming that has always fascinated the great Italian artist. The 1961 painting on paper by Jannis Kounellis is very rare, where the artist paints the famous typographical signs on a light background 'alluding to the invention of a new order for a shattered, pulverized language'. The work, recently archived at the Kounellis Archive, Rome, is offered with an estimate of 90,000/140,000 euros.
A cheerful portrait by Michelangelo Pistoletto, painted in 1988, 125x165 cm, representing Marisa Palazzolo, estimated at 120,000/160,000 euros. The portrait of Lucio Amelio, famous Neapolitan gallery owner, painted by Andy Warhol in 1985, testifies over time to the relationship of friendship and esteem that the artist had for his Neapolitan gallery owner and friend Lucio. The large drawing/collage, 101x77 cm, is estimated at 60,000/80,000 euros.
Among the works of Italian Pop Art the following should be mentioned: Mario Schifano, Sergio Sarri, Gianni Ruffi. Very interesting are the works of the 1970s by Giorgio Griffa (Two signs, 1976, canvas, estimate 12,000/16,000 euros) and by Piero Dorazio (Fom here to start, 1978, estimate 12,000/18,000 euros), those of Carlo Alfano and Pier Paolo Calzolari, Nunzio, Nanni Valentini and Emilio Vedova.
The quality of Alighiero Boetti's tapestry, Specular Symmetries from around 1990, 28x26 cm, and certified by the Boetti Archive in Rome, estimated at 50,000/70,000, is exceptional.
A gem is the high quality work Wrapped Reichstag from 1994 by Christo, an artist who recently passed away and highly regarded for his repeated recent auction records, offered with an estimate of 30,000/40,000 euros.
The large 150x200 cm work by A.R. dates back to 1982. Penck, among the most interesting artists of the recent international auction rounds, in the wake of a very strong revaluation of historicized global graffiti art. The work "Ohne Titel", coming from and exhibited in the Lucio Amelio gallery, is estimated at 60,000/80,000 euros.
James Brown, Study for Mosaic IV, from 1984 is the imposing painting with the unmistakable graffiti style of the great artist who recently passed away in Mexico. Coming from and exhibited in the Lucio Amelio gallery, the work is presented at auction with an estimate of 35,000/45,000 euros.
Among the works of the Transavantgarde there are 3 lots of particular interest: Mimmo Paladino, his great work (220x150 cm) Untitled painting and collage on canvas/panel, elegantly framed, rich in stratifications of signs and pictorial materials and with allusive references and iconic, it is estimated at 80,000/120,000 euros; Arreug! (or guerrA!, read backwards) is the work by Francesco Clemente presented in this auction. Performed in 1981, published and exhibited several times in prestigious places, the work is highly representative of the most sought-after period of the production of the great Neapolitan-born artist, but New Yorker by adoption, and is presented with an estimate of 50,000/70,000 euros. Finally, the painting Untitled by Sandro Chia, in an elegant artist's frame (160x129x6 cm), estimated at 22,000/26,000 euros. Important works also in the more contemporary section, among these the beautiful and colorful painting in acrylic and resin on canvas by Bernard Frize, one of the most successful living contemporary French artists. The experimentation with the extremely plastic and loose use of colour, characteristic of his works, is successfully carried out in Maigre, a large canvas (218.4x218.4 cm) from 2002, estimated at 60,000 / 80,000 euros. The intense and imposing painting by the great German figurative artist Norbert Bisky is rich in colour. Titled Judith, the work, also large in size (200x300 cm), is the "Bisky" reinterpretation of the famous biblical story of Judith and Holofernes, and is presented with an estimate of 50,000/70,000 euros.
A very successful work by Conrad Marca-Relli from 1978, entitled The Players, 68.6x86.4 cm, an excellent quote from the work of the same name by Marcel Duchamp.
The very rare 1998 sculpture by Gianfranco Meggiato, entitled Sfera Erosa, one of the first created and a unique work, with a diameter of 45 cm, is estimated at 20,000/30,000 euros. 2 works by Hermann Nitsch, a great Viennese artist who recently passed away, present at auction: the first made with blood, mixed media and screen printing on canvas, entitled Edipo Re, is valued at 18,000/25,000 euros, while the oil, 100x80 cm, has an estimate of 22,000/26,000 euros.
Worthy of note is a small section of the catalog with works by Jan Fabre, among which a self-portrait of the artist in golden stucco on a ceramic plate with a light in his hand in a plexiglass case stands out. The work entitled l'Homme qui donne du feu, model for Rozenheuvel, from 1999 and published in the volume Les bronzes, edited by the Guy Pieters gallery, is estimated at 20,000/25,000 euros.
Also worth mentioning is the large neon work by Mario Dellavedova from 2000, I am not sorrowful, but only tired of everything that ever desired, estimated at 15,000/20,000 euros, and the large and impressive, as well as meticulous work on panel (170x210 cm) by Sergio Fermariello, from 1989, created at the time of the Lucio Amelio gallery, is estimated at 15,000/20,000 euros. There are 3 works from the 90s presented at auction by the Ljubljana collective Irwin, female pseudonym of Marcel Duchamp, (estimates from 2,500 to 7,000 euros), as well as 3 terracotta sculptures by the great African artist Seni Awa Camara (estimates from 3,500 to 12,000 euros).
