This exhibition by Cantoni, which also celebrates 17 years of friendship and sharing of sensitivity with me and with BLINDARTE, could appear to be a political exhibition. In truth it makes us reflect on some events that significantly impact our lives, which change us or could change us forever. Upon closer inspection, these events are always ultimately caused by man and his innate propensities. The floods, landslides, the melting of the glaciers, the destruction of the coral reef, like all the stories of the Foreigners of Cantons, deserve equal respect and attention. The images that capture his attention, the subjects that ignited the paper after his thoughts become icons of all those who have similar stories to tell. The historical and notoriously prestigious and evocative context, with which they happily dialogue, offers a conscious opportunity for reflection on the role that man entrusts to his memory and his absence, and to the hidden cruelty of their pursuit. The artist intervenes in the face of this pressing silence and creates a perhaps last precious opportunity to remember. The exhibition was scheduled for 2020 in an international political climate different from the current one, but which was already giving clear worrying signals, well received by the artist.
