In this small, precious copper, the mannerist taste of Callottian origin emerges in the elegant group of figures; at the same time the references to the way of composing and to the clear rendering of some landscape painters of Nordic origin, in particular Bril and Elsheimer, are evident.
All this, combined with the brilliant chromatic rendering, enhanced by the copper support, and in comparison with numerous examples of small paintings on copper of similar subject, present in Florence, in Palazzo Pitti or in the Uffizi, suggests that they were executed during the Florentine period (1617 – 1621).
