Pittore napoletano del XVII secolo
Battle scene
oil on canvas
cm 76x102
The work is an important testimony to the most archaic phase of the battle genre and seems to outline the early characteristics of the youthful activity of Salvator Rosa (Naples, 1615 - Rome, 1673) or the late production of Aniello Falcone (Naples, 1600 or 1607 โ 1665), which marked its initial development. The canvas could be dated between 1635 and 1639.
