The painting in question is accompanied by a written communication by Nicola Spinosa of 2016, which confirms the full autograph. The scholar believes that the definition of the almost sculptural forms of the Child and the arrangement composed of the two protagonists of the scene, suggest the dating to the middle of the sixth decade of the seventeenth century, although there are references to the painter’s youthful production that in some details recall the examples of Caravaggio in Naples.
