Fischetti is one of the main artists active in Naples in the second half of the eighteenth century, his figurative culture originates from the style of Francesco Solimena, but his works also reveal a classicist imprint of Roman inspiration. Its fame derives mainly from the works, performed in churches and Neapolitan residences, for example those of Palazzo Maddaloni, Palazzo Doria d'Angri (1784) and Palazzo Cellamare (1789 circa)but the most important commission was the decoration of some rooms of the Royal Palace of Caserta (1778-1781), where the master comes directly requested by Luigi Vanvitelli. The painting presented here best expresses the sensitivity of the painter, which expresses an excellent balance between the Neapolitan tradition of Solimena and the instances of classicism.
