In the painting presented here, dated between 1645 and 1650, appears as a figure of patron in the act of showing the scene to the viewer, the same character present in almost all the battles of Aniello Falcone. In the portrait of "Vecchio in corazza" by Aniello Falcone, presented at the exhibition "
Battistello Caracciolo and the first naturalism in Naples", Ferdinando Bologna identified him as Gennaro Annese, Neapolitan leader, but later this identification was moved to the Prince of Tarsia, customary patron of Falcone or Alvaro De Las Torres, Master of the General Camp during the Masaniello revolution.
This painting is attributed to Onofrio de Lyon, brother-in-law of Aniello Falcone and his close collaborator.
