Manifattura del Barone di Malvica, Palermo

Pair of vases with three handles with crested mule head

polychrome majolica
h 30 cm cad.
on tripartite circular pedestal by leonine heads, flared hem.
Decorations with green and gold festoons circumscribe three medallions with cameo reserves decorated with classical figures from the archaeological statuary repertoire on a brown background.
The theme of the vases, freely reinterprets the compositional taste of the famous Farnesian service of the Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea of Naples realized in the period of Domenico Venuti between 1784 and 1788 : the first large service decorated with views of the Kingdom performed by the Neapolitan manufactory for the First Secretary of State the Marquis of Sambuca, the Sicilian Giuseppe Beccadelli.
