The ancient Neapolitan nativity scene art of the 18th and 19th centuries is appreciated all over the world, always arousing great passions that have given rise to very important and famous collections, some of which are also present in Museums. In the eighteenth century in Naples, international delegations visiting the Bourbons gave the sovereigns extraordinary gifts that were then imitated, for their beauty, in the artistic figures created by the nativity scene art workshops. In addition to offering a unique vision of the society of the city of Naples in the 18th century, the artists from Campania and the masters of the workshops that created the nativity scene figures were able to give vent to their creativity, leaving us testimonies of the customs of the time and the human peculiarities of those times.
