In a written communication to the owners in 1966, the art historian Giuliano Briganti relates the view in question with those of the same subject and format by the painter Antonio Joli (Modena 1700–Naples 1777), further adding that it can be considered part of a series of small views of Neapolitan subjects cited by the scholar Martini
