Figura di donna lungo il Petraio

Oil on canvas
cm 118x90

-
Petraio, a charming village that climbs from Corso Vittorio Emanuele up to the Vomero hills, takes its name from the characteristic asphalt that covers the steps that lead up to Castel Sant'Elmo lined with Art Nouveau villas. The castle and the surrounding landscape stand out behind the beautiful and thoughtful female figure.

The remarkable quality of the painting, to be seen in particular in the definition of the face and the intensity of the woman's gaze, denote the great portraiture ability of the unknown painter, who evidently drew inspiration from life.
