The photographs with the wording "Unalterable Edition" were produced by the "Compagnia Fotografica Società Anonima per Azioni" based in Milan and with branches in many Italian cities, between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.

The production of unalterable quality, resistant and not subject to alterations, allows for the first time a wide diffusion of landscape, artistic and archival shots of post-unification Italy.

The innovative value was both that of providing photographic documentation for printed bulletins of cultural and informative thematic analysis, and that of a purely tourist and folkloristic nature but above all the revolutionary one of scientific and timely cataloging of the works of art kept in every corner of the beautiful country, becoming an essential information tool previously relegated to paintings and only printed engravings: in fact, the cataloging number relating to the museum collections at the bottom is highlighted.

In this case, the truly exceptional format gives us, as in a magical flash of time, the absolutely extraordinary sense of cultural appeal that animated the works kept at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and coming from the excavations of Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Vesuvian sites, making it even more once the inexhaustible thread of the Grand Tour in the Neapolitan City and attracting travelers from everywhere. The photos then became works of art themselves.
