Raffaele Castello (1905-1969) contributed significantly to the Neapolitan artistic panorama. Born in Capri, he remained strongly attached to his island, where he returned in 1935 after touring Europe for a long time. His artistic production is distinguished by an avant-garde language, strongly influenced by abstractionism, sign of an original vision that led the artist to come into contact with different personalities of the main avant-garde currents of the first half of the twentieth century, especially in Paris. The vast repertoire of works by Raffaele Castello includes a series of paintings that, by virtue of their experimental and avant-garde pictorial language, testify to his audacity and his openness to new artistic trends. The artist from Campania has been able to mix influences ranging from Futurism to Cubism and abstract art, creating compositions that reflect the dynamic energy of the early twentieth century.
