Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, Bruno Di Bello (Torre del Greco, 1938 - Milan, 2019) participated in the fifties in the great season of renewal that sees Naples participate in international artistic trends. Among the protagonists of Group 58, a supporter of a "nuclear painting" in accordance with the Milanese avant-garde, and among the editors of the magazine "Documento Sud", the artist devotes himself in this decade to an informal language, in line with the contemporary experiments of Guido Biasi, Luca (Luigi) Castellano, Lucio Del Pezzo, Sergio Fergola and Mario Persico. Already in this phase Di Bello shows a marked attention to the sign and its combinatorial and rhythmic possibilities, which will soon lead him to experiment with new expressive solutions, both in the field of painting and photography.
