Renato Barisani began his training at the Institute of Art in Naples, then attended the Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in Sculpture in 1941. He then became Professor of Design at the Academy from 1978 to 1984. From 1950 to 1955, together with Renato De Fusco, Guido Tatafiore and Antonio Venditti, he created the Arte Concreta Group in Naples, which opened an innovative and international language.
G. Dorfles wrote in 1949, referring to Barisani and the Concrete Art Movement"... is an art based only on the realization and objectification of the artist’s intuitions, rendered in concrete images of form-color, far from any symbolic meaning, from any formal abstraction, and aimed at capturing only those rhythms, those cadences, those chords, of which the world of colors is rich."
